K-9 Accommodations

Signature Dog Training offers a more personal boarding environment than a traditional kennel. Our unique board and train program is also available to those owners seeking more than boarding.

  • Basic Boarding available
  • Tailored exercise and eating regimen for overweight dogs
  • Boarding with Basic Obedience in preparation for a CGC Evaluation
  • House Manners
  • Client dogs boarded in a family environment instead of a traditional kennel environment
  • Client dogs live amongst a pack of at least five other dogs that live and train with Jackie
  • Client dogs learn from watching how other dogs respond to Jackie and her family

Through positive reinforcement markers and negative behavior markers, your dog will learn basic obedience commands as well as any additional concepts you may desire.

Understanding and Reshaping Behaviors

Signature Dog Training offers private in home education and instruction as well as private education and instruction conducted at the Signature Dog Training Field.

Private In Home Sessions

  • Designed to prepare dog(s) for the American Kennel Club CGC Evaluation (See explanation below)
  • Includes Diet and Nutrition Analysis
  • Allows for observation of natural dog behaviors in their home environment
  • Allows for education and instruction for pet owners to correct negative behaviors in their home environment

Private Training Field Sessions

  • Designed to prepare dog(s) for the CGC Evaluation
  • Includes Diet and Nutrition Analysis
  • Allows for use of agility obstacles to build the dog's confidence and strengthen the bond between owner and dog

Why is a diet and nutrition analysis essential to the education and instruction?
A diet and nutrition analysis are essential to the owner's education and instruction because problems, issues, and negative behaviors can be the result of dietary and nutrition deficiencies as well as surpluses.

What is a CGC evaluation and what does it mean?
Started in 1989, the AKC's CGC Program is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. The Canine Good Citizen Program is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test may receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club.

With Sabian's weight and nutrition properly maintained, he has the stamina and the endurance to complete any task asked or required of him. This includes scaling this six foot fence to retrieve his toy and scaling it again to come back to me.

Additional Services Offered

Adoption Consultations:
To increase the success of adopting a dog into a forever home from a shelter or a rescue, it is important to have a very clear and detailed understanding of the adopter's needs. It is also extremely crucial to know how to specifically evaluate the personality and breed traits, of any prospective dog. Adoption consultations consist of:

  • Ensuring a complete and thorough understanding of the adopter's needs
  • Discussing potential shelters and rescues to visit
  • Accompanying adopters to designated shelters and rescues to evaluate potential dogs for adoption
  • Conducting exercises that test and evaluate the personality and breed traits of each individual prospective dog
  • Thoroughly understanding any negative personality and behavior traits and how to properly correct them
  • Educate adopters about proper nutrition and diet and how it may postively impact any behaviors
  • Answer any questions and advise adopters about how to help the adopted dog adjust to the new home and family

Having experience in the shelter and rescue environments, it is extremely important to understand the stress these dogs are under and how to ease that stress, so that both adopter and dog will be happy in their new home.

Therapy Dog Evaluations are free, and do not require a CGC or formal obedience training. I am more than happy to volunteer my services to all dog owners interested in being evaluated for a Therapy Dog Team.
